Plumber for Dripping Taps
Our team can take care of your dripping tap problem for you quickly and efficiently for a very competitive price.
Inside the tap there is a system that literally blocks the path for the water to flow past when you turn the tap off. This system consists of two main parts. First part is the Tap Washer - which is the actual seal that moves when you turn the tap on and off, blocking or unblocking the water flow. Second part is the Valve seating, which is a special seating for the tap washer to rest in when the tap is turned off. Together, with their surfaces pressed firmly against each other, they create a strong seal where no water gets through. However, if any of these surfaces face some wear and tear and are not able to create that strong seal, water starts dripping through. There can also be a different type of drip, where the leak is actually happening near the tap handle. There is a small disc there called an O-ring. The O-ring is sealing the tiny gaps around a screw that is holding the handle in place. Once it loses its tightness, the water will press out. |

Plumbing Bendigo Saves Water
Dripping taps can actually increase the water bill quite a lot, if you add up all the little drops, the water waste is actually quite considerable. For example if your tap or shower head drips 60 drops a minute, it will add up to 21 liters of water per day. This is not a huge deal if the tap gets fixed relatively quickly. If you require a fast and reliable tap and sink repair and installation, you know where to find us ;)
But what about the outdoor taps that are out of sight most of the time? Outdoor taps get a lot of wear and tear from being out in the elements, and because you don’t check on them constantly, they may be leaking for months at a time without you even knowing. This really adds up those wasted litres of water and it will also show on your water bill. We recommend you do a quick check of all your outdoor taps once in a while to make sure none of them is dripping. If you spot a leak, call us at Plumbing Bendigo immediately, and we will come fix it up ASAP. |
